Please read this email update in full!
We now have 16 teams for this session, I will not be accepting any new teams, and the schedule has been posted.
Please note the following:
As previously discussed we have 4 tables on Thursday nights. We are attempting to split the matches into two time frames. Which means you could play at or before 6 or at or after 8 PM.
Reminder, these time slots are not guaranteed you will play that time every night. Please be mindful of everyone's time, do not rush your match, but do not play slow on purpose. Do not try to rush a match currently playing or pressure players. If I hear complaints of any of this occurring you will get a warning, future infractions will start docking points or removal from the league. All I am trying to say is, be nice, be patient, and be adults.
I will be passing out everyone's phone numbers via email so you can reach out to the team on your schedule. I also encourage you to use the website to discuss everything including your times or just shit talk each other. You are already registered but you will have to create a password (see the news section). I encourage you to work together to make sure you know what times you can play.
We do allow pre-scheduling, make-up matches, and substitutes. (subs are required to have paid the $25 sanction fee). We have 30 singles players and most of them are not current doubles players. Note, the schedule does have October 31st, if you don't want to play during this night, either pre-schedule or do a make-up match.
Please read and understand our by-laws, and the links to the BCA ruleset:

If you have not paid your $25 join/sanction fee, please supply that now, check the news section on the website for the options.
Here are some differences in 8-Ball when comparing to APA:
1. You can call safe and make your ball, it is your opponent's turn.
2. No slop, this is called pocket, meaning you call a ball to a pocket and as long as the shot is legal and you make the ball in the called pocket then you continue to shoot. You are NOT required to call obvious shots, kicks, caroms, banks, etc MUST be called. If it's obvious and your object ball goes into a different pocket than the "obvious" pocket, then its opponents turn at the table.
3. 8-ball on break does not count, you must spot the ball, you can continue to shoot as long as you did not foul.
4. Table is open after the break, you cannot hit the 8-ball first, however, you can use it in a combo as long as you hit a legal object ball first. Otherwise, any object ball can be used.
5. If you scratch and make the 8ball you lose the game. If you scratch and do NOT make the 8ball, then it’s your opponent's turn and they have ball in hand.
6. If you foul on the break, it's ball in hand anywhere, it's not "behind the line".
Note these key items in 8-ball rules on the break:
Section 2-3 Break Requirements
"1. You begin the break with ball in hand behind the head string. The break is not a
called shot, and you may not call a ball or a safety on the break. There is no requirement
for the cue ball to contact any particular ball first. You must legally pocket a ball or
cause at least four object balls to contact one or more cushions or it is an illegal break. If
you legally pocket a ball, you continue to shoot. If you do not legally pocket a ball or
you commit a foul, your inning ends. (AR p. 102)"
"3. If your break is illegal, with or without a foul, your inning ends. Your opponent may:
a. re-rack the balls and break;
b. require you to re-rack the balls and break again;"
Our tables are 1, 4 9ft and 2, 5 7ft. If you want to play a specific table and/or you can't agree on the table, then flip for it.
The total session is 15 weeks, you play every team once, which brings the total amount per player to $165. You can pay this all in advance, every week, or in smaller sums. Please have all fees paid 2 weeks prior to the end of the session (end of December).
You are required to use the BCA PL Scoring app to score your matches, found in your phone/tablet app store. To use this app you will need to "claim" your FargoRate account, you use this account to login to the BCA Scoring app.
This link describes how to do this:
https://www.playcsipool.com/csinews/bca-pool-league-scoring-app
The format is 8-Ball BCA rule set with 3 rounds.
Round 1Player 1 plays both players on the other team, one game each, lag for break.
Round 2
Player 2 plays both players on the other team, one game each, lag for break.
Round 3
5 Games of Scotch Doubles 8-Ball
Due to FargoRate not being updated on Doubles play, we have introduced the singles rounds to allow for each player’s Fargo to adjust. While this will not adjust quickly it should help over the long term to have more fair matches.
The end of session Tournament will be announced later in the session. Please follow facebook.com/BlueRidgeBCA and watch your email for further updates.
