About the event
What is Singles?
Singles is a 15 week head-to-head battle for points. You receive a list of players and their contact information, you then work with your opponents to schedule when you play. You can play as many players you want in a single day, you can play anyone on your list at anytime. Please do not schedule matches during APA league times, generally Monday-Thursday after 6 PM. If you can complete a match prior to 6 PM that is fine. Just inform the bar that you have a BCA match.
What is the cost?
The pricing is $11 per match on a 15 week schedule, this equals $165 for the entire session. There is a sanction fee of $25, if you have already paid for 2024 you do not need to pay this. This fee is assessed every Janurary or when you first sign up for a divison. The sanction fee allows you to be eligible to go to BCA World Championship in Las Vegas and play in any other Blue Ridge BCA division.
What is the format? Mixed format where individual players in a Division will play a race to 7. The available formats are as follows: 8 Ball, 9 Ball, 10 Ball, One Pocket, Bank Pool, or 14.1 (Straight Pool).
- One Pocket, Bank Pool, or 14.1 (Straight Pool) MUSTÂ be agreed upon before the lag. The lag will determine who breaks. Alternating breaks after.
- For 8 Ball, 9 Ball, or 10 Ball the winner of the lag will choose to break or their game of choice. Rack your own, alternate break.
- Please see Bylaws and official CSI/BCA rules for each game’s rules.
Is there a handicap? (Changed as of Fall 2024 Session) We will be using FargoRate to handicap the amount of points received.
One Pocket, Bank Pool, and 14.1 (Straight Pool) Scoring
- Disclaimer: These games will be agreed upon before the lag, a player HASÂ the right to refuse any of these formats. In which case, the lag will be for break or game choice of 8 Ball, 9 Ball, or 10 Ball.
- Bank pool and one pocket are alternating break games. The winner of the lag will break first.
- One Pocket and Bank Pool will count for 3 pts per game and therefore will be a race to 3. The last game will count for 1pt.
- Straight Pool will be a race to 30 balls for 2 pts. Once a player reaches their 30 balls, the game will restart. *modifications can be made if both players agree - i.e. two players may agree on a straight race to 100 balls.
What if I do not have a skill level?
- If you have played in a league before, your skill level will be converted to a Fargo Rate. See chart below. If you do not have a skill level or have never played in a league then the League Operator will assess and assign a starter rating.Â
APA to FargoRate Conversion
- 8-Ball SL 7 or 9 9-Ball = 550
- 8-Ball SL 6 or 7-8 9-Ball = 500
- 8-Ball SL 5 or 6 9-Ball = 450
- 8-Ball SL 4 or 5 9-Ball = 400
- 8-Ball SL 3 or 4 9-Ball = 350
- 8-Ball SL 2 or 3 9-Ball = 300
- 8-Ball SL 1 or 1-2 9-Ball = 250
What are the playoffs? A: After all matches have been played, three End of Session tournaments will ensue. (depending on player count for each bracket), the brackets maybe adjusted depending on player count in each Fargo range.
- Fargo Rate Below 400
- Fargo Rate 400-500
- Fargo Rate Above 500
True double elimination. The top three finalists will be paid out. The tournaments will follow the same format as regular league play where the winner of the lag chooses either the game or the break. The game options for the tournament are 8 ball, 9 ball, and 10 ball. Race to 7 on A and Race to 5 on B side.
How do we score our match?Â
Go to the form on the website at https://www.blueridgebcapl.online/singles-score-entry and answer the questions. ***IMPORTANT*** All players should enter a scoresheet, if Jack plays Jill then both Jack and Jill have to fill in their own score sheet. This allows for accountability and checking if they match. If you do not fill out a form, you lose your right to contest any scores entered for the match.
You can also use the BCA PL Scoring app on your phone/tablet, using the same login as FargoRate. The only caveat is the app can't score future matches, you will have to use the score entry on the website. Link with information on App: https://www.playcsipool.com/csinews/bca-pool-league-scoring-app
